Good morning and a happy hump day to you! Today is one of the last in the series- choosing the proper denim for an Hourglass Body shape. And then, Friday will be the last and encompass all facets of denim. No matter what your shape, you should be versed on the lingo when entering the denim department, so that you can have a quick discussion with the sales person about what it is you want. Many people don’t understand their denim and will send you on a wild goose chase trying to find that perfect pair. So, taking the time to educate yourself before shopping is key! Friday’s post will contain details about denim; the sizing, the different lines and cuts available and most importantly- the washes to choose from! BUT, we still have on last shape- the Hourglass. Blessed with the figure that everyone is trying to create, the right denim can still be challenging. Your curves are in all of the right places, however you want to show them off in a flattering way! The biggest challenge will be to find a pair that fits both your hips and waist and one that flatters at the same time.
1. When purchasing denim, your main objective should be to show off and flatter your curves. This can easily be achieved with a contoured waist band or the right pair of high rise denim. These type of jeans show off those “assets”, get rid of muffin top and, most likely, will eliminate the gap that is sometimes experienced between waist and hips. 2. A bootcut denim will always work for you and brings effortless, timeless style to your wardrobe. This type of denim will balance your hip with its wider bottom, making your leg appear long and shapely. A must for your wardrobe!
3. Everyone needs a version of a skinny in their closet and you are no different! Because you are curvy and there is some differential between your hip and ankle, why don’t you opt for a cigarette leg instead of a super skinny? The main difference between these two pairs of jeans is the opening at your ankle- choosing the cigarette leg will give you the appearance of a skinny jean with a softness around the ankle that will support your curves.
4. Last- if you have the desire to make your leg look longer, have I got news for you- try a straight leg! Because this style is tightest at your hip and falls straight to the hem line, it will lengthen the appearance of your leg and make you appear taller, instantly. This is also a great tip for those of my petite client’s looking for an instantaneous way to lengthen your look!
